Today some of the most influential people in the gaming industry are gathering for one night to celebrate and acknowledge the efforts of some of the years best video games this year. At BlizzCon I had a chance to catch up with Geoff Keighley to discuss his ambitious attempt to create a video game show not run or funded by major corporation, but an award show produced by a gamer and tailored for the gamers who actually game. I really can’t ignore the simple fact that Keighley has a way to create memorable events, one being this years The Last of Us: One Night live. That event for me will rumble through my nerd chambers forever. With that said, The Game Awards will remind us why the game industry will always be a reason to celebrate. Not just for me but for every gamer out there who sees right through the fluff and convoluted game award shows of the past. The gaming industry needs this event for many reasons, one being we have some dark days in the last few months hindering the industry and we all need to be reminded why we’re all so lucky to be in this era of gaming.
Nerd Fashion Moment
Being that this is an award show with a red carpet I went all out, like holly hell am I glamming the shit out of myself, but I decided to get a dress outside my comfort zone. Since the weight loss I am able to wear things I most likely wouldn’t have glanced. I didn’t want to break the bank and buy a dress I would never wear again so I did something I wanted to try for some time and I rented a designer gown from renttherunway.com which was pretty painless. I was hesitant thinking how will this work if the dress doesn’t fit or doesn’t look good on me? I read all sorts of reviews and I found the most vava voom VIVA LAS FUCKING VEGAS dress I could find along with the pancake flare and elegance of course. It’s a thing of beauty. The designer I went with is Badgley Mischka who happens to be one of my favorite designers and here is the preview minus the makeup, hair, and well Las Vegas glam. Also, sweet coincidence but my father will be in Las Vegas celebrating his birthday. I will buying him a shot of tequila or two.
I will be joined by the some of the best media outlets, gaming personalities, gaming companies, and the fans who in fact matter the most. The Game Awards will be held at Planet Hollywood and will be broadcasted LIVE here. I suggest you follow me on my Twitter for up to date rants, announcements, and shenanigans. You can check out my recent podcast with Ivy Domkitty on The Game Award Show and PSX and more here. Also, the same weekend is the PlayStation Experience which will be celebrating 20 years of PlayStation. All the games, exclusives, and announcements will be discussed on the podcast next week, but if you have not caught up with the recent EP we discuss all sorts including The Game Awards, PSX, and usual rants of Ivy and I and our extremely nerdy lives.
