There has been much speculation as to where E3 would be next year. Now we can be reassured that its making its home in LA for a few years, maybe Chicago next or Hawaii next? A girl can dream of bikini, cocktail, and gaming right? 🙂
ESA says, “We are proud to partner with Los Angeles for another three years. The City serves as a strong backdrop for the video game industry’s biggest announcements and we look forward to remaining in LA,” said Michael D. Gallagher, CEO of the ESA. “Video games are a dominant force in the global entertainment marketplace and there is no better place to display that than Los Angeles. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the City and AEG.”
As I approached the Orpheum Theater I could hear French accents with a mixture of other languages and the excitement was building fast. Once inside, the captivating view of the theater set a perfect location to display what EA and Ubisoft had to offer its fans and trusted followers.
The overall theme of Ubisoft was Life, Power, Play. Ubisoft’s commitment to making games more powerful, life inspiring, and personal. Life is the fuel that powers the game. They launched the event with a performance by Hip Hop artist Flo Rida promoting the new Just Dance 4. The host Aisha Tyler added her flare and raunchy personality to the Briefing. Amusing but distracting. All I kept thinking was get off the stage lady and show me what’s coming out! It looked like she wanted to have her way with Flo Rida, but then commented about the female dancers and made a gay reference saying that everyone had a little bit of gay in them. Interesting move Aisha. Here is her rant on being a gamer girl, what do you guys think? on.fb.me/LjwKMB
Far Cry 3’s producer Dan Hay explained the vast and thrilling launch of Far Cry 3. Based in a tropical Island, it had a sexy yet rugged feel mixed with a bit of unpredictability, allowing the freedom to explore. Now, you are not the victim the Island has changed you, your no longer being hunted you are the hunter. The island was not the island you once remembered. I had an opportunity to play the Co-op game play on day 2 and all I can say is prepare yourself for a wild ride, the campaign will be an edge of your seat game mode too. Well done Ubisoft. Here is a trailer in case you missed it provided by, Kayafj this was the trailer featured at the Ubisoft briefing
or you can check out Ubisoft’s theatrical trailer
Also, highlighted were games like Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Creative director Max Beland promises to make the biggest Splinter Cell yet. Bringing back conviction a Co-op favorite but pumping it with better attributes. Also new game mode, Spy vs. Merks looks to deliver a promising good time. Wii U is partnering up with third party production companies to offer an excusive Wii U experience. Ubisoft has a new Zombi U apocalyptical game that I did demo. The trailer was incredible, but the actual game play was fair. I’m still going to buy it but I think it needs to push the envelope a bit more, perhaps next year? More on the Wii u later on the Nintendo briefing segment….here is a trailer if you missed it, provided by Ubisoft
Now, to the most anticipated game featured at the Ubisoft briefing, Assassin’s Creed 3 the room woke up and the room buzzed with enthusiasm. Everyone in that room was beaming with excitement, all I could think was how this new character would be such a hard act to follow after an Italian stud like Ezio Auditore. But, leave it to the Ubisoft creators to push and produce a new and refreshed version of the game along with the remarkable connection of the history of the American Revolution.
Based on a 30 year life span of Conner Kenway, during 1753 to 1783 you have a the protagonist character Desmond Miles who controls a young Kenway a half English and half Native American into the mist of a very rich American History storyline. Kenway will encounter many of our founding fathers and influential American History characters like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Charles Lee, Benjamin Franklin, Paul Revere, General Lafayette, Samuel Adams, and many others that I will not reveal in the sakes of not over killing it for you. The game is beyond beautiful taking you into all the four seasons and not leaving any details behind. This game is incredible and I’m sure Ubisoft has much reason to be proud. Obviously, this game is rated as my number one for many reasons; story quality, graphics, and consistency to name a few. I had the chance to play multiplayer which will offer a game mode similar to “domination” which was very fun and aggressive. The single player campaign just speaks for itself and will ensure hours of endless game play. This Game is set to release on October 30th 2012. Another game that caught the eye of the gaming industry and myself lit a fuse of curiosity and a lot of unanswered questions. Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, had a radiant glare when he talked about Ubisoft’s new project Watch Dogs. His enthusiasm on behalf of his team, a two year project already in the making, has the gaming industry buzzing. The new character Aiden Pearce lives in a world where your information is accessible and exposed allowing for the possibility of it being hacked. An open action-adventure he uses his city’s central operating system (ctOS) and he basically uses it as a weapon. The ability to use this hacking devise makes it an open world of possibilities and everyone’s information is accessible. Jamming cell phones, manipulate traffic lights, health records exposed, and the probability of violence indicator. Plus, I’m sure a number of other cool and different city hacking abilities. It also has a co-op mode which brings in a character named, “Bixxel_44” as your wingman and controlled by another player. The game itself has a Grand Theft Auto feel, I wonder how Rockstar feels about it? I hate to compare games but it’s very clear of the similarities. It definitely can hold its own, with its slow cam kill shots and quick response ability. I’m curious how the public will receive it. I’m excited for the release and think is it much worth buying. Its release date is unknown sometime in 2013.
I had on more briefing to attend and this was the last briefing of the day, considering it was Sony it couldn’t be missed.
Walking through USC’s Galen Center among the front runners of technology and gaming innovation gave me a sense of wonder and excitement in that arena, a minor glimpse of the future of gaming had begun. The Xbox Briefing was about to go live and the anticipation of the room filled with cheers and chatter. The room lit with an emerald “Xbox” green glow and people smiling deep into their own technology. Documenting, photographing, texting, and imaging the wonder of what the Xbox Briefing will offer the future of gaming.
I had the pleasure to walk in the arena with very influential woman, IDG World Expo Chief Executive Officer and Carolyn Rauch Senior Vice President, Strategic Communication and Event Developer. I was completely in shock when I realized I was small talking with the Master of Puppets, the energy was radiant. Mary and Carolyn made me feel as if I had been knighted among the gaming world. Rubbing shoulders with movers and shakers was thrilling alone, but they had just catapulted the most exciting moment in my gaming life.
Xbox’s new clean version of gaming along with access of entertainment and sports entertainment made the nostalgia of the future very crisp and aggressive. The new ability to communicate with your Xbox in different language voice commands made it possible to dream again. A polished platform, with a simple approach of connecting the gaming community with new tools, affiliates, music cataloging, and partners like Nickelodeon, Internet Explorer, Univision, NBA, NHL, and ESPN with 24/7 sport streaming in HD all coming this Fall.
Sports Games like Madden 13 had legendary Joe Montana demoing the game on stage using Kinect commends during a game play. FiFA 13 also had new bells and whistles promising a sleeker game while still holding its integrity as a classic sports game. Messi will be the player highlighted on the cover.
Harmonix, Dance Central 3 opened with a showcase performance with Usher he displayed his actual moves from his tour. I was in the front row dancing in my chair, I couldn’t help myself. It’s eager to please all Dance Central fans. You can play the new and enhanced Crew Throwdown mode where two crews battle it out. “Make Your Move” a mini game which will have you make routines on the fly.
South Park Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone lightened the mood by mocking up some of the previous speakers and they revealed their new game, South Park: The Stick of Truth. Trey and Matt wanted to give fans a feeling of being part of actual South Park episode. Here is a trailer in case you missed it provided by IGN,
Tomb Raider published by Square Enix a fifth title developed by Crystal Dynamics definitely was bring sexy back, Lara Croft looking more badass than ever. In your face action, brutal combat scenes, and hello graphics! This will be out for the public March 5th 2013. Here is a trailer in case you missed it provided by IGN,
Capcom’s Resident Evil 6 gave a very polished trailer with all the curiosity to kill 1000 cats. While watching the main characters during the briefing, Leon and Helena fighting through zombie hordes, through China and dramatically falling through a glass roof onto a vast mass of zombies. It made one thing clear, “I must play this game!” Graphics were clean and the player movement while shooting gave this Resident Evil an edge. I cannot wait for this game to come out! I had the opportunity to play it on day 2 of E3, but more on that coming soon. Here is a trailer in case you missed it provided by Machinima,
Black Ops 2 Xbox Media briefing, however the presentation was lacking the COD luster, and the game play did not reveal anything new about the campaign or upcoming additions to the Zombie game modes. I’m positive this game will be a huge success upon release not only due to the franchise following. It has all the potential to be contender during the fall and holiday brigade of other games, I want to believe that it will be a game that can sustain itself only time will tell. Can’t wait for it, here is a trailer of the campaign mode, provided by,
In conclusion to The Xbox Media Briefing I had butterflies in my stomach and knew that this was just one of many of briefing of the day. I jumped in the cab and headed to the Orpheum Theater where the EA/Ubisoft briefing was being held.
